Seeing the Location Name in Apple TV’s Aerial Screensaver

Apple:

Ever wonder what location you’re watching in an Aerial screen saver? While the location is playing, just tap the Touch surface on your Apple TV Remote.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t work if, like me, you’ve turned off the touch surface of the remote because it causes unwanted inputs. It used to be possible to see the location name by pressing the Up button, but Apple changed that in tvOS 18.

Previously:

Update (2025-02-26): Martyn Arnold and IT Troll have the unintuitive and undocumented answer: you press the Down button on the remote.

Just push the center button. Works like a charm.

@Josh That doesn’t work when using the accessibility setting to turn off light touches. If you actually click the button it takes you out of the screensaver.

I have used the down button in the past. I think I've used that since upgrading and it still works. I'm not at home to test it at this time.

I recently got home and tested this. The down button does continue to work to show the names. I've also discovered that the up button now allow me to change the selected screen saver collection, and the left/right buttons now select the previous/next screen saver in the the current collection.

Typo in: "but Apple changed that in iOS 18.".

LOL i think you meant "tvOS 18"

@Doeke Fixed, thanks!
