Silencing a Family Member’s Alarm

Tim Hardwick:

If you live in a family household, there’s a good chance that at some stage you’ve been disturbed by someone else’s alarm going off on their iPhone. If their phone is out of your reach and no one else is bothering to turn off the alarm, the disturbance can quickly become irritating, but if your own iPhone or iPad is nearby, there’s a handy trick you can use to silence that alarm without you having to get up.

That’s great, but how are you supposed to discover this if it’s only available via Siri?

I saw this trick last week so I dug a little
bit and apparently, the accounts need to be connected via Family Sharing and the devices need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi access point.

So I set an alarm on my daughter's iPhone then invoked the Siri command on mine and, well, it didn't work.

Siri replied that it didn't find any alarm even though my daughter's alarm was ringing.

So either this "trick" is a hoax or I'm missing something here.

Can also just phone call that device and it will stop the alarm.

I tried this but could not get it to work either. My wife tried, we're Family Sharing, and on the same wifi, but no dice.
