Swift 5 Preview

Swift 5.0 is the next major release of Swift, and is slated to bring ABI stability at long last. That’s not all, though: several key new features are already implemented, including raw strings, future enum cases, checking for integer multiples and more.

ABI stability is long overdue. As to the rest, I’m not alone in questioning the emperor’s sartorial ambitions:

At some point the huge number of features in a language becomes a code smell of its own. This unpleasant smell is particularly noticeable in projects maintained by more than one developer. Inevitably, each developer will use their own pet features. #swift
