Quartz Composer Lives

Troy Koelling (via John Siracusa):

No, this must have been a mistake. Quartz Composer is not deprecated, and still fully supported in Mountain Lion. The bug reporting system, as you all are aware is like a game of telephone and although I do not know how this could have happened, I apologize for any confusion it has caused.

I was pretty sure I had seen an official notice that Quartz Composer had been deprecated. Glad to hear that’s not the case.

That is good news. Though, given that .qtz files can't be opened in QuickTime Player X, it still doesn't give a whole lot of confidence for the future...

And given the topic, it gives me an opportunity to tangent to give a shout out to one of my favorite artists of the past decade, Futurismo Zugakousaku! Amazing stuff. Hotel Gadget is the masterpiece, but there are other great ones as well.

(His work actually gave me reason to play around with Quartz Composer to tweak his artworks to my taste. Fun and easy to tweak in QC. Along with the (recently open-sourced) Amnesty to provide a time/temp display floating on top, the various tweaked Zugakousaku .qtz files provide the screensavers for my HDTV connected Mini.)
