RSS.app 1.0

Joost Schuttelaar:

RSS.app is the ideal tool for the casual RSS user. The app is almost invisible: It is embedded in the status menu and uses Mountain Lion’s Notification Center to alert you of new posts.

Neat idea, and a good way to get at your subscriptions that became inaccessible after Apple removed RSS support in Mountain Lion. However, Apple rejected it from the Mac App Store citing rule 2.8:

Apps that are not very useful or do not provide any lasting entertainment value may be rejected.

I can see why Apple rejected it. Nobody... absolutely nobody, used Mail to manage their RSS feeds. So in order to use this app, you have to manually enter feeds. I used Mail to manage my RSS feeds. I only manage a few important ones where a daily notification is important. I don't want to have to install some large feature rich app just replace that simple functionality that was built into Mail. I just want something lightweight, which is exactly the purpose of this app.
