Disable and Recover from Mac OS X’s Quarantine

Jonathan Rentzsch shows how to disable the quarantine and how to remove the quarantine xattrs from existing files.

Having asked this on Twitter, I feel I need to clarify a couple of things.

1. Quarantine has value.
2. I wanted it only for specific files that I convert to a different format. Otherwise I need to open those files one by one before I can convert them.
3. It __MAY__ have value for docsets if you use LaunchBar to find reference files.

beyond that, I really think disabling it system wide or in your Downloads directory is a bad idea.

I don’t know that quarantine has ever had any value for me. It seems to have caused nothing but frustration. I’m willing to be convinced that it’s useful for some people, but currently I’m skeptical about that as well.
