Michael Kelly Killed in Iraq
Michael Kelly, the Atlantic Monthly editor-at-large and Washington Post columnist who abandoned the safety of editorial offices to cover the war in Iraq, has been killed in a Humvee accident while traveling with the Army’s 3rd Infantry Division.
I thank him for creating the new Atlantic Monthly, one of my favorite publications.

That is quite a shock, and I'm very saddened to hear it! I actually just received the newest Atlantic the other day and was very surprised to hear the he (particularly as the Editor-in-Chief) had gone out on an "embed." It is truly a shame that we'll never get to read what he would have written--I'm sure it would have been an enlightening alternative to most of the war coverage so far.
