iPadOS 18.0.1
Juli Clover (release notes, security, no developer):
Apple today released iPadOS 18.0.1 for the iPad, and it brings iPadOS 18 to the for M4 iPad Pro models for the first time since the iPadOS 18 update was pulled for those devices. After iPadOS 18 was released, it was found that a small number of M4 iPads were bricked when the software was installed. If you haven’t been able to install iPadOS 18 on your iPad Pro, it is now available.

Haven't - and won't - upgrade my two macOS until 15.1. Even that, maybe not until 2025. But my two iPhones updated like always, no issue.
My iPad mini version 5? Like always, it hung (as in "paused") and took hours to update. I tried doing it through wifi, tethered to a MacBook, force-quitting System Settings, power down/up, even doing an OS reset. It was enjoyable - NOT - to watch each time start from anywhere from 2 minutes to 7 minutes.... slowly increase.... and finally just say paused.
First, why can't Apple give more details from the device? At least when doing it through finder I get two things - how far the download is and that the download was corrupted. Are iOS/iPadOS users so ignorant that they can't say anything beyond "paused"?
Second, this isn't the first time an update does this on my iPad. It's been about two years... through everything from calls to Apple (seems a mesh network "may" work better if the device is connected directly to the base via ethernet) through shutting off every kind of automatic downloads/notifications (which is getting worse over the last few years) and waiting to try to download until the crunch of everyone else doing it is over.
To finish, my mistake was (1) expecting not 0.1 updates for at least a month after updating to 0.0 of the major version, and (2) trying to *download* the 0.1 the day after it was released. ("Preparing...", which is all you get if not using Finder, always works fine. It's downloading.) I just wish I could simply update my iPad as simply as my iPhones.
