I tried to find a better way to invoke services a while back, using Drag n' Drop. I'm curious if you've tried out the stab I took at it:

I like using drag and drop for services, but I'm not convinced that the UI I built was the right way to go. I wanted a way with less use of screen resources, something closer to a hiding dock of services…

I tend to go for keyboard equivalents for my favourite services.

The contextual Services menu you can get from IceCoffee is great as well.

Thanks for reminding me about IceCoffee. I should give that a try.
