@marczak Thanks. Do people really modify /etc/bashrc instead of adding their own in ~?
Turns out that Terminal does auto-restore the CWD. But if you override PROMPT_COMMAND you have to call update_terminal_cwd.
@danielpunkass New windows work for me with “Default Settings†(as they should). Seems like they just didn’t implement for auto-restore.
@danielpunkass @marczak I don’t think that’s the problem, because it does maintain the same working directory when creating a new tab.
@marczak Doesn’t seem to. Could you be more specific? Although the fact that those settings exist casts doubt on the idea it can’t be done.
@clarkcox Not that I’m aware of. I did override PS1 and PROMPT_COMMAND.
@clarkcox I’m just using the default shell.
@clarkcox It restores mine, too, but only when it’s /Users/mjt.
@gparker Interesting. You can’t send it a “cd†command? Even if you know you have bash?

@stormchild It isn’t, but it should be. It’s even showing in my title bars.
@stormchild I’m referring to the grayed text in the window; I think that’s due to Lion.
On the plus side, auto-restore. Odd that Terminal restores the command history but not the current working directory.
Seriously getting tired of these Nvidia driver kernel panics. When will 10.6-style stability return?
