{"id":8151,"date":"2013-10-30T10:43:49","date_gmt":"2013-10-30T15:43:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mjtsai.com\/blog\/?p=8151"},"modified":"2015-10-08T14:17:44","modified_gmt":"2015-10-08T18:17:44","slug":"tweetbot-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mjtsai.com\/blog\/2013\/10\/30\/tweetbot-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Tweetbot 3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In general, I like the new <a href=\"http:\/\/tapbots.com\/software\/tweetbot\/\">Tweetbot 3<\/a> (<a href=\"http:\/\/mjtsai.com\/app\/tweetbot-3\">App Store<\/a>), but it follows two unfortunate trends with iOS apps.<\/p>\r\n<p>First, it did not remember my preferences or account info from the previous version.<\/p>\r\n<p>Second, it cannot fit as much on screen at once. Even with the smallest, non-bold font setting, there are fewer characters per line than I&rsquo;d like. There is also additional vertical padding between tweets. It feels like my screen has shrunk.<\/p>\r\n<div class=\"figures\">\r\n<div class=\"figure\"><p class=\"caption\">Tweetbot 2<\/p>\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mjtsai.com\/blog\/images\/2013-10-30-tweetbot-2.png\" alt=\"Tweetbot 2\" \/><\/div>\r\n<div class=\"figure\"><p class=\"caption\">Tweetbot 3<\/p>\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mjtsai.com\/blog\/images\/2013-10-30-tweetbot-3.png\" alt=\"Tweetbot 3\" \/><\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.macstories.net\/reviews\/tweetbot-3-review-human-after-all\/\">Federico Viticci<\/a> has a nice review:<\/p>\r\n<blockquote cite=\"http:\/\/www.macstories.net\/reviews\/tweetbot-3-review-human-after-all\/\"><p>While the core aspect of the tweet drawer has stayed the same, the fact that it now opens immediately after you tap is a huge improvement in my opinion. I haven&rsquo;t missed the triple tap actions because the tweet drawer makes it easier to access a wider set of shortcuts; the new animation retains the old app&rsquo;s idea of &ldquo;pushing down&rdquo; tweets below the drawer, but it also reinforces a new kind of physicality that feels less like a robot and more like an object you&rsquo;re directly manipulating. <\/p><\/blockquote>\r\n<p>Update (2013-11-12): <a href=\"http:\/\/www.macstories.net\/news\/tweetbot-3-1-brings-text-size-controls-timeline-switcher-quick-actions\/\">Tweetbot 3.1<\/a> adds a smaller font size, which is very nice.
