{"id":6081,"date":"2012-09-20T23:07:00","date_gmt":"2012-09-21T04:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mjtsai.com\/blog\/?p=6081"},"modified":"2013-10-19T12:56:46","modified_gmt":"2013-10-19T17:56:46","slug":"podcasts-in-ios-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mjtsai.com\/blog\/2012\/09\/20\/podcasts-in-ios-6\/","title":{"rendered":"Podcasts in iOS 6"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I haven&rsquo;t figured out what to do now that Apple has removed the built-in support for podcasts from the Music app. Now at version 1.1, <a href=\"http:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/app\/podcasts\/id525463029?mt=8\">Apple&rsquo;s Podcasts app<\/a> is still clunky and slow and doesn&rsquo;t sync properly with iTunes. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.downcastapp.com\">Downcast<\/a> seems promising, but it doesn&rsquo;t sync with iTunes, either. I like to use iTunes on my Mac to manage and subscribe to podcasts, as well as archive the good episodes. Plus, I&rsquo;m suspicious that with apps that do their own downloading I will end up in a situation where I have no signal and nothing downloaded.<\/p>\n<p>Update (2012-09-21): <a href=\"http:\/\/www.macworld.com\/article\/2009048\/hands-on-with-ios-6-music.html\">Christopher Breen<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote cite=\"http:\/\/www.macworld.com\/article\/2009048\/hands-on-with-ios-6-music.html\"><p>As mentioned, if you&rsquo;ve installed the Podcasts and iTunes U apps, that&rsquo;s where you&rsquo;ll find this content. However, if you haven&rsquo;t installed these apps and you sync, within iTunes to your device, podcasts and iTunes U content, you play that content within the Music app. Just tap More and you&rsquo;ll find entries for both kinds of media.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So that&rsquo;s an easy solution, for now. But if you&rsquo;re a casual podcast listener and just want the content, then subscribing to podcasts and downloading them from the Podcasts app may suit you.
