Liu used the schematic to run a simulation using electrical engineering tool LTspice, and then messaged people telling them he ran the simulation for power conversion development work.<\/p>\n<p>[&#8230;]<\/p>\n<p>Liu used the Apple schematic on a Mac mini that later synced to the MacBook he took from Apple, which is why Apple knows about it. Apple now wants to investigate the  Mac mini  and other devices Liu still has in his possession.<\/p>\n<p>Apple says the &ldquo;shocking evidence&rdquo; is proof that its trade secrets are in active use and evidence is being destroyed, which is why expedited discovery is needed.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/daringfireball.net\/linked\/2026\/09\/01\/apple-reveals-change-liu-evidence-openai-lawsuit\">John Gruber<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote cite=\"https:\/\/daringfireball.net\/linked\/2026\/09\/01\/apple-reveals-change-liu-evidence-openai-lawsuit\">\n<p>The first point seems really bad for OpenAI. On the fourth point, I&rsquo;m not sure what Apple is alleging here&#x2009;&mdash;&#x2009;I <em>think<\/em> they&rsquo;re alleging that Liu took an Apple internal engineering app with him over to OpenAI?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/appleinsider.com\/articles\/26\/09\/01\/its-not-our-fault-if-you-cant-keep-trade-secrets-openai-tells-apple\">William Gallagher and Mike Wuerthele<\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.macrumors.com\/2026\/09\/01\/dispute-said-to-be-mess-of-apples-own-making\/\">MacRumors<\/a>):<\/p>\n<blockquote cite=\"https:\/\/appleinsider.com\/articles\/26\/09\/01\/its-not-our-fault-if-you-cant-keep-trade-secrets-openai-tells-apple\">\n<p>OpenAI has responded to Apple&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/appleinsider.com\/articles\/26\/08\/31\/new-evidence-shows-openais-trade-secret-theft-destruction-of-evidence-says-apple\">latest filing<\/a> about the theft of confidential information, by filing its own rebuttal which again accuses the company of trying to stop employees leaving. According to <em>Reuters<\/em>, OpenAI is now also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/legal\/litigation\/openai-says-apple-has-only-itself-blame-trade-secret-fight-2026-09-01\/\">calling out<\/a> Apple for being behind on AI.<\/p>\n<p>[&#8230;]<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;[Employees] can leave a company like Apple that has struggled to adopt AI and move to an exciting startup that builds innovative products,&rdquo; says OpenAI in its new filing. &ldquo;Apple may not like those choices. But it cannot claim those choices are unlawful, and it cannot use its own sloppy procedures to blame others for its own mess.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2026\/09\/01\/openai-calls-trade-secret-dispute-a-mess-of-apples-own-making\/\">Ben Lovejoy<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote cite=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2026\/09\/01\/openai-calls-trade-secret-dispute-a-mess-of-apples-own-making\/\">\n<p>On the face of it, the evidence Apple provided yesterday does appear damning.
