Porst reviews Nick Hornby&rsquo;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/0670914266\/michaeltsai-20\">31 Songs<\/a>, which seems to be the U.K. version of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/0971904774\/michaeltsai-20\">Songbook<\/a>.\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote cite=\"http:\/\/earthlingsoft.net\/ssp\/blog\/archives\/week_2003_06_01.html#000431\">\n\nWriting about music in an engaging or thought provoking way is hard&mdash;I mostly fail to do so and so do many writers in music magazines. While Nick Hornby may have the back-catalogue of knowledge, I don&rsquo;t think he&rsquo;s terribly good at  writing about music. Furthermore, reading the book made clear to me that I appreciate Nick Hornby as a novelist and that I hardly care about anecdotes of his life.\n\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>\n\nFor the record, I thoroughly enjoyed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/1573225517\/michaeltsai-20\">High Fidelity<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/1573227331\/michaeltsai-20\">About a Boy<\/a>. The movies are good, too, but different. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/1573229326\/michaeltsai-20\">How to Be Good<\/a> started out well, but then it got heavy handed and went nowhere.\n\n<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sven-S.
