{"id":49059,"date":"2025-08-27T08:37:28","date_gmt":"2025-08-27T12:37:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mjtsai.com\/blog\/?p=49059"},"modified":"2025-08-27T08:37:28","modified_gmt":"2025-08-27T12:37:28","slug":"archaeology-1-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mjtsai.com\/blog\/2025\/08\/27\/archaeology-1-4\/","title":{"rendered":"Archaeology 1.4"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mothersruin.com\/software\/Archaeology\/relnotes.html\">Mothers Ruin Software<\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/indieapps.space\/@Archaeology\/115033947706677329\">Mastodon<\/a>):<\/p>\n<blockquote cite=\"https:\/\/www.mothersruin.com\/software\/Archaeology\/relnotes.html\">\n<p>Enhanced the decoding of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mothersruin.com\/software\/Archaeology\/formats.html#toc-saved-state\">Saved Application State<\/a> to\nextract a couple of categories of data that were previously being ignored:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For a sandboxed, document-based app, the\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mothersruin.com\/software\/Archaeology\/reverse\/bookmarks.html#scoped-bookmark\">security-scoped bookmarks<\/a> that\n  are associated with an <code>NSDocument<\/code> will now be shown, usually as an\n  additional archive labeled <strong>_NSDocument [Security-Scoped Bookmarks]<\/strong>.\n  This is an array of bookmark data blobs, and is where AppKit squirrels away the\n  security-scoped URL for a document, such that the app can re-open it upon restoration.<\/li>\n<li>For an <code>NSResponder<\/code> that opts into the <code>+restorableStateKeyPaths<\/code>\n  mechanism, the associated data will now be shown as an archive with the suffix\n  <strong>[Keyed State Data]<\/strong>. This is a dictionary of saved values, by key path.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[&#8230;]<\/p>\n<p>When showing Mach-O information (after opening a bundle or a bare executable), if the\nexecutable is part of a Universal binary, Archaeology now shows the offset and size\nof the architecture slice within that binary (since we can never remember the right\n<code>otool(1)<\/code> incantation for this).
