So, it was decided to retire it.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The cache feature historically let you view a webpage as Google sees it, which is useful for a variety of different reasons beyond just being able to see a page that&rsquo;s struggling to load. SEO professionals could use it to debug their sites or even keep tabs on competitors, and it can also be an enormously helpful news gathering tool, giving reporters the ability to see exactly what information a company has added (or removed) from a website, and a way to see details that people or companies might be trying to scrub from the web. Or, if a site is blocked in your region, Google&rsquo;s cache can work as a great alternative to a VPN.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<p id=\"google-removes-cache-link-from-search-results-update-2024-09-25\">Update (2024-09-25): <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seroundtable.com\/google-cache-dead-38112.html\">Barry Schwartz<\/a> (via <a href=\"https:\/\/news.ycombinator.com\/item?id=41640845\">Hacker News<\/a>):<\/p>\n<blockquote cite=\"https:\/\/www.seroundtable.com\/google-cache-dead-38112.html\"><p>Google has now totally disabled the Google Cache from completely working.  Earlier this year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seroundtable.com\/google-search-drops-cache-link-from-search-results-36787.html\">Google removed the cache link<\/a> from the search result snippets.  Then a couple of weeks ago, added <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seroundtable.com\/google-adds-internet-archives-wayback-machine-links-38055.html\">links to the Wayback Machine<\/a>.
