We&rsquo;re here, we&rsquo;re back&mdash;it&rsquo;s working,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;I don&rsquo;t have data to back it up, but I know it&rsquo;s better.&rdquo;<\/p><p>[&#8230;]<\/p><p>Disgruntled Amazon workers likely saw this coming. This time <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2023\/04\/13\/amazon-ceo-andy-jassy-return-to-office-mandate\/\">last year<\/a>, Jassy said Amazon had no plans for a compulsory office return and instead intended to &ldquo;proceed adaptively.&rdquo; That sentiment didn&rsquo;t last, and Jassy soon joined peers <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2023\/03\/24\/return-to-office-elon-musk-twitter-tesla-layoffs\/\">Elon Musk<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2023\/06\/08\/google-remote-work-office-attendance-performance-review\/\">Sundar Pichai<\/a> in their pro-office enthusiasm, <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2023\/07\/21\/remote-work-amazon-return-to-office-relocation-moved-away\/\">mandating<\/a> an office return earlier this year (the company does have an exception request process that&rsquo;s considered on a case-by-case basis).<\/p><p>[&#8230;]<\/p><p>Amazon spokesperson Rob Munoz told <em>Fortune <\/em>that the company has been happy with how the return to office has gone since Amazon <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2023\/07\/21\/remote-work-amazon-return-to-office-relocation-moved-away\/\">mandated<\/a> it earlier this year: &ldquo;There&rsquo;s more energy, collaboration, and connections happening, and we&rsquo;ve heard this from lots of employees and the businesses that surround our offices.&rdquo;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2023\/11\/30\/return-to-office-is-dead-stanford-economist-says-heres-why.html\">Greg Iacurci<\/a> (via <a href=\"https:\/\/news.ycombinator.com\/item?id=38486907\">Hacker News<\/a>):<\/p>\n<blockquote cite=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2023\/11\/30\/return-to-office-is-dead-stanford-economist-says-heres-why.html\"><p>The share of workers being called back to the office has flatlined, suggesting the pandemic-era phenomenon of widespread <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/08\/03\/the-federal-reserve-is-fighting-inflation-so-is-remote-work.html\">remote work<\/a> has become a permanent fixture of the U.S. labor market, economists said.<\/p><p>&ldquo;Return to the office is dead,&rdquo; Nick Bloom, an economics professor at Stanford University and expert on the work-from-home revolution, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/I_Am_NickBloom\/status\/1729557222424731894\">wrote<\/a> this week.<\/p><p>[&#8230;]<\/p><p>Research has shown that the typical worker equates the value of working from home to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/05\/31\/a-pay-freeze-vs-returning-to-office-workers-equally-hate-both-options.html\">an 8% pay raise<\/a>.<\/p><p>However, the work-from-home trend isn&rsquo;t just a perk for workers.
