This concept often evokes nostalgia for the early, less commercialized days of the web, before the ad-supported business model took over the internet (and we started <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.kagi.com\/age-pagerank-over\">fighting back<\/a>!)<\/p><p>For a deeper understanding, Ben Hoyt&rsquo;s &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/benhoyt.com\/writings\/the-small-web-is-beautiful\/\">The Small Web is Beautiful<\/a>&rdquo; serves as an excellent primer. Additionally, our GitHub repository links to <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/kagisearch\/smallweb#small-web-is-beautiful\">several more articles<\/a> on this topic.<\/p><p>Kagi Small Web offers a fresh approach by promoting recently published content from the &ldquo;small web.&rdquo; We gather new content, published within the last week, from a handpicked list of blogs and surface it in multiple ways:<\/p><ul><li>Directly within <a href=\"https:\/\/kagi.com\">Kagi search results<\/a> for applicable queries (existing Kagi members do not need to do anything, this will be automatic)<\/li><li>Via the new <a href=\"https:\/\/kagi.com\/smallweb\">Kagi Small Web website<\/a><\/li><li>Through the Kagi Small Web <a href=\"https:\/\/kagi.com\/api\/v1\/smallweb\/feed\">RSS feed<\/a><\/li><li>Via our Search API, where results are now part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/help.kagi.com\/kagi\/api\/enrich.html\">news enrichment API<\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/blockquote>\n<p>I&rsquo;ll be interested to see whether this improves the rankings when I search with Kagi. Even before this change, they were often quite different than with Google and Bing, with top results less likely to be spammy. I&rsquo;m pleased that my blog is <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/kagisearch\/smallweb\/blob\/main\/smallweb.txt\">included<\/a>, and Kagi Small Web does seem to be helping more people to find my posts.<\/p>\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pxlnv.com\/linklog\/kagi-small-web\/\">Nick Heer<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote cite=\"https:\/\/pxlnv.com\/linklog\/kagi-small-web\/\">\n<p>Surely authority and relevance carry heavier weighting in ranking these search results, but the idea of bringing more independent voices with fresh links onto a search results page is intriguing.
