We&rsquo;re in the process of emailing every user to let you know about these changes. These updates are meant to make all our policies clearer and more transparent to you.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Update (2011-07-04): The changes are getting some backlash in the comments. <a href=\"http:\/\/scripting.com\/stories\/2011\/07\/03\/imDeletingMyDropboxAccount.html\">Dave<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/scripting.com\/stories\/2011\/07\/04\/whatIsDropboxGoodFor.html\">Winer<\/a> cancelled his account, and some <a href=\"http:\/\/hardware.slashdot.org\/story\/11\/07\/02\/0515218\/Dropbox-TOS-Includes-Broad-Copyright-License\">Slashdotters<\/a> are also upset. <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.agilebits.com\/2011\/07\/dropbox-terms\/\">Jeff Goldberg<\/a> at AgileBits (<a href=\"http:\/\/forum.agile.ws\/index.php?\/topic\/4648-we-are-now-agilebits\/\">formerly<\/a> Agile Web Solutions), however, says that &ldquo;There is nothing in these Dropbox Terms of Service that gives them the right to do anything with your data that you don&rsquo;t ask them to do.&rdquo;\n<\/p>\n<p>Update (2011-07-05): <a href=\"http:\/\/lawclanger.blogspot.com\/2011\/07\/dropbox-terms-of-service-not-actually.html\">Simon Bradshaw<\/a>:\n<\/p>\n<blockquote cite=\"http:\/\/lawclanger.blogspot.com\/2011\/07\/dropbox-terms-of-service-not-actually.html\"><p>What I know has concerned some people though is the rider at the end of Dropbox&rsquo;s clause about &ldquo;You must ensure you have the rights you need to grant us that permission.&rdquo; Does this mean that you can only store content on Dropbox if you either created it or have licensed it on terms that allow you to copy it?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Update (2011-07-07): Another <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.dropbox.com\/?p=867\">revision to the terms of service<\/a> uses more plain English.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dropbox: Today we revised our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy and Security Overview.
