When the computer turns off, the power strip automatically turns off many other devices&mdash;powered speakers, USB hubs, you name it.<\/p><p>[&#8230;]<\/p><p>The power strip in question was the APC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/APC-P7GT-Power-Saving-Discontinued-Manufacturer\/dp\/B0014GZFJA\">Power-Saving SurgeArrest<\/a>, which Amazon tells me I bought in April 2008, right after I read about it in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2008\/04\/24\/technology\/personaltech\/24pogue-email.html?unlocked_article_code=AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACEIPuomT1JKd6J17Vw1cRCfTTMQmqxCdw_PIxftm3ieua3DJDmweiPgYCIiG_EPKarskf9YpxDOdTdtdPbQvA6Yu1uhQIkEoRgyho5_CmIgAJ299j7OPaV4M_sCHW6Eko3itZ3OlKex7yfqy4kONb2TrUbiJ0XcqOApvoJd6fV78jWgMk_vBGrUl34Z_1fwxF9stE2d7ESqBu_fpChhsap7RPlyHtF5AC6wOUirTnNWc97sBbA1ZbFvER3t56ms9g8hObJJVZO2sak59J7etxOkZGWdqL4y2BpAuR4mylrxisbPFrBbk29OmR1nM_Ln6NOHJR_Mfkdx3&amp;smid=url-share\">David Pogue New York Times column<\/a>. APC doesn&rsquo;t make it anymore, but they do make <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3u7c8mR\">larger<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apc.com\/shop\/us\/en\/products\/APC-Power-Saving-Essential-SurgeArrest-7-Outlets-120V\/P-P7GB\">smaller<\/a> follow-on versions.
