We built Fleets as a lower-pressure, ephemeral way for people to share their fleeting thoughts. We hoped Fleets would help more people feel comfortable joining the conversation on Twitter. But, in the time since we introduced Fleets to everyone<\/a>, we haven’t seen an increase in the number of new people joining the conversation with Fleets like we hoped. Because of this, on August 3, Fleets will no longer be available on Twitter.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n

Twitter users will soon be able to change who can reply to their tweets after they’ve posted them, the company has announced<\/a>.<\/p>

Limiting who could reply to a tweet was already an option, thanks to a feature rolled out last year<\/a>, but users had to choose who could reply before posting the tweet. Now they can make that decision after the post has gone live.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n
