{"id":29850,"date":"2020-08-24T16:44:01","date_gmt":"2020-08-24T20:44:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mjtsai.com\/blog\/?p=29850"},"modified":"2020-08-24T16:44:01","modified_gmt":"2020-08-24T20:44:01","slug":"lightroom-for-ios-data-loss-bug","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mjtsai.com\/blog\/2020\/08\/24\/lightroom-for-ios-data-loss-bug\/","title":{"rendered":"Lightroom for iOS Data Loss Bug"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.macrumors.com\/2020\/08\/20\/adobe-lightroom-ios-update-photos-deleted\/\">Juli Clover<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote cite=\"https:\/\/www.macrumors.com\/2020\/08\/20\/adobe-lightroom-ios-update-photos-deleted\/\"><p>Adobe&rsquo;s recent 5.4 update for the Lightroom for iOS app had a major bug in it that deleted user photos and presets, eradicating all content that had not been synced to the Adobe cloud service.<\/p><p>As noted by <em><a href=\"https:\/\/petapixel.com\/2020\/08\/20\/lightroom-app-update-wipes-users-photos-and-presets-adobe-says-they-are-not-recoverable\/\">PetaPixel<\/a><\/em>, complaints surfaced on the <a href=\"https:\/\/feedback.photoshop.com\/photoshop_family\/topics\/lost-my-pictures-and-presets-after-update-today-18th-august-2020?topic-reply-list%5Bsettings%5D%5Bfilter_by%5D=company_promoted\">Photoshop forums<\/a> on Monday, shortly after the update was released, followed by similar reports <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Lightroom\/comments\/icz90f\/i_cant_believe_i_lost_2_years_of_edits_due_to_the\/\">on Reddit<\/a> and Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>[&#8230;]<\/p>\n<p>Adobe has recommended that affected users try to restore an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macrumors.com\/guide\/icloud\/\">iCloud<\/a> backup that might have the lost content, but there&rsquo;s no solution on Adobe&rsquo;s end to address the loss and no fix if there&rsquo;s no iCloud backup.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>And restoring an iCloud backup is problematic because you can&rsquo;t just restore one app. Restoring your Lightroom data would also revert newer data from other apps.
