While no indication of a change has been made on his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/gerard-williams-iii-27895aa\/\">LinkedIn profile<\/a>, it does offer a glimpse into his design prowess.<\/p>\n<p>[&#8230;]<\/p>\n<p>He came to Apple with a splash, as the A7 was Apple&rsquo;s first 64-bit CPU core. This design arrived on the market over a full year before competitors like Qualcomm and Samsung could respond and largely <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macrumors.com\/2013\/12\/16\/qualcomm-employee-64-bit-a7-chip-hit-us-in-the-gut\/\">cemented<\/a> the technical prowess of the SoC team Apple had created.<\/p>\n<p>If confirmed, his departure would follow the more well-known CPU architect <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macrumors.com\/2012\/08\/01\/key-apple-chip-designer-jim-keller-returns-to-amd\/\">Jim Keller<\/a>, who was part of Apple&rsquo;s acquisition of PA Semi.
