{"id":20092,"date":"2018-01-08T15:36:08","date_gmt":"2018-01-08T20:36:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mjtsai.com\/blog\/?p=20092"},"modified":"2018-01-11T11:40:12","modified_gmt":"2018-01-11T16:40:12","slug":"how-to-disable-macos-high-sierra-upgrade-notifications","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mjtsai.com\/blog\/2018\/01\/08\/how-to-disable-macos-high-sierra-upgrade-notifications\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Disable macOS High Sierra Upgrade Notifications"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/appletoolbox.com\/2018\/01\/disable-macos-software-update-upgrade-notifications\/\">Elizabeth Jones<\/a> (via <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jgordonshare\/status\/950350206536749057\">John Gordon<\/a>):<\/p>\n<blockquote cite=\"https:\/\/appletoolbox.com\/2018\/01\/disable-macos-software-update-upgrade-notifications\/\"><p>Every time I turn on my MacBook (2017,) it immediately starts up with that exasperating High Sierra notice to upgrade to High Sierra so I can &ldquo;enjoy the latest technologies and refinements.&rdquo; And it&rsquo;s even popping up on my iMac (2015 with Fusion Drive,) that Apple itself recommends NOT updating to High Sierra.<\/p>\n<p>[&#8230;]<\/p>\n<p>After spending a lot of time trying things, I came upon the easiest of solutions, all done within the Mac App Store.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Click on mac OS High Sierra Notifications Details option OR just open Mac App Store<\/li>\n<li>In the banner for macOS High Sierra, control-click anywhere inside that banner<\/li>\n<li>Select Hide Update and bingo, no more notification!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<p>However, updating to macOS 10.13 is currently the only way to get Apple&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/mjtsai.com\/blog\/2018\/01\/03\/intel-cpu-design-flaw-necessitates-kernel-page-table-isolation\/\">Meltdown<\/a> security update.<\/p>\n\n<p>Update (2018-01-11): <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/andrewabernathy\/status\/950862083335139328\">Andrew Abernathy<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote cite=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/andrewabernathy\/status\/950862083335139328\">\n<p>Welp.
