Vaughan-Nichols<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote cite=\"http:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/article\/twitter-abandons-do-not-track-privacy-protection\/\"><p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.twitter.com\/\">Twitter<\/a> was one of the first companies to support <a href=\"http:\/\/donottrack.us\/\">Do Not Track (DNT)<\/a>, the website privacy policy. Now, <a href=\"https:\/\/support.twitter.com\/articles\/20169453\">Twitter is abandoning DNT<\/a> and its mission to protect people from being tracked as they wander over the web.<\/p><p>[&#8230;]<\/p><p>According to Sarah Downey, an attorney and privacy advocate, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iab.com\/\">Interactive Advertising Bureau<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/digitaladvertisingalliance.org\/\">Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA)<\/a>, which represent most online advertisers, have their own interpretation of Do Not Track: &ldquo;They have said <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/article\/why-do-not-track-is-worse-than-a-miserable-failure\/\">they will stop serving targeted ads but will still collect and store and monetize data<\/a>.&rdquo;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pxlnv.com\/linklog\/twitter-increasing-ad-tracking\/\">Nick Heer<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote cite=\"https:\/\/pxlnv.com\/linklog\/twitter-increasing-ad-tracking\/\">\n<p>Like Google and Facebook, Twitter is now displaying the topics it thinks you&rsquo;re interested in, how old it thinks you are, and what languages it thinks you speak &mdash; apparently, I speak Estonian and Portuguese. Twitter goes one step further and allows you to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/settings\/your_twitter_data\">request a list of which advertisers are currently targeting<\/a> your profile.
