He was 92.<\/p>\n<p>[&#8230;]<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Zinsser went beyond [Strunk and White&rsquo;s] admonitions on writerly dos and don&rsquo;ts; he used his professional experience to immerse readers in the tribulations of authorship, even subconscious ones.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Zinsser&rsquo;s book is one of my two favorites about writing. I&rsquo;d recommend <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/0060891548\/?tag=michaeltsai-20\">On Writing Well<\/a> for the bigger picture and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/0226899152\/?tag=michaeltsai-20\">Style: Toward Clarity and Grace<\/a> for the more nitty gritty.<\/p>\n<p>Update (2015-05-17): <em>On Writing Well<\/em> is available <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/details\/OnWritingWell\">at the Internet Archive<\/a> (via <a href=\"https:\/\/news.ycombinator.com\/item?id=9554495\">Hacker News<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/daringfireball.net\/linked\/2015\/05\/14\/zinsser-rip\">John Gruber<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote cite=\"http:\/\/daringfireball.net\/linked\/2015\/05\/14\/zinsser-rip\"><p>I could not recommend that book any more highly.
