@mhenders Time Machine is like an L3 cache. Really good for getting recently used data. Pretty much useless for getting older stuff.
@mhenders Happens to me less than once a year. Usually a quick fix with Time Machine.

@rosyna Aha, I'd forgotten that tmutil does have a restore command. That's probably the best way.
@mcelhearn Actually, I’m not seeing any weird metadata. Is used to really mess things up if you restored manually. Did they fix that?
@sdarlington For me it's crashing for normal folders.
@mcelhearn Yes, although then there is various metadata that needs to be fixed.
Made a spreadsheet mistake. Unfortunately, Excel doesn’t support Versions, and Time Machine restore on Mac OS X 10.11 just crashes my Finder
