@dnanian This has happened to me with about 6 destination drives on at least 3 Macs. :( Anyway, I’ll just use other software going forward.
@dnanian Just regular erase, but I did a full scan for bad blocks.
@dnanian Just that it was starting the backup. UI said it couldn’t create the backup folder, which is what it often says. Perms seem OK.

@marczak I kept thinking it would be sufficient for this super simple case. Clearly a mistake.
@marczak Yep, already using CrashPlan and Arq on my main Mac. I think I’ll have this other Mac CrashPlan to the main Mac.
You have failed me for the last time, Time Machine. Clean system install. Newly formatted backup drive. No excuse to not be able to back up.
