@nkt0 @drewmccormack Does the live collaboration work in the apps? I thought it was just on the Web.
@fetchguy It seems to happen for apps where I normally mix windows between displays, e.g. Mail’s Activity window on aux display.
So, surprisingly, I find multi-display support to be worse in Mavericks. Apps no longer remember which display a window was on.
@dlpasco I found that for my simple spreadsheet, Google Docs worked better on the phone.
@bergmayer At first glance, not really, but let me know if you find out more about that. mjtsai.com/blog/2013/10/2…
@tofias Yes, the iWork 9.3 stand-alone updater is still available: support.apple.com/kb/DL1563
@nedley No. I thought the iWork apps became self-contained when they were added to the Mac App Store.
@stormchild Right. I really do want to be prompted, just once per site.
@stormchild How does that address the issue of being prompted multiple times for different subdomains? I just want to block all of them.
Safari’s “Trust Flash?” sheet needs to add Little Snitch–style control over subdomains. I’m being prompted so many times for the same site.
@stormchild Not sure what the deal is with FCPX. I alternately read that it’s great now and that it’s so bad for pros that they switched.
@stormchild Yeah, if anything, the new iWork UI seems less scalable to pro features.
@stormchild Yeah, you get new UI (which seems simpler but less efficient) plus prevented from using accidentally non-iOS-compatible features
So those old files that don’t open properly in iWork ’13 may be orphaned if you don’t have the DVD version plus updaters.
Investigating whether iWork ’09 can be transferred to a new Mac. Expected MAS dialog to get new receipt, but it just says the app is damaged
@tantramar I don’t think I’ve ever needed that, but it looks interesting. Thanks. icreatemagazine.com/tips/iwork-tut…
Putting aside the UI changes, Numbers ’13 moved around the tables in one of my documents so that they overlap and are now unreadable.
@mpweiher Very true.
@mhenders I haven’t investigated yet, but is Mail now relying more on Spotlight for smart mailboxes rather than its own Envelope Index?
@mpweiher @avbelow @drewmccormack Yes, but it still has to read and skip over (and unzip) the initial parts of the file. Not random access.
