@danielpunkass Not documented, but one of the nice things about using NSURL (contra NSString) is that it’ll raise if you pass in nil.

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to danielpunkass

@flyosity Yes, I think trials would fix much of these problems.

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to flyosity

@shinypb So they designed it to “work” this way?

via Tweetbot for iOS in reply to shinypb

@nriley I see. Weren’t there some PowerBooks that used to be able to open to that angle, almost flat?

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to nriley

@nriley You put the screen flat on the table where you can’t really see it?

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to nriley

@chuanp I guess I’ll naturally get to try that once my phone finishes updating to 7.0.2. Thanks.

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to chuanp

@DanFrakes OTOH, if I wanted to type a lot, the 11-inch MacBook Air’s screen shows a lot more, and typing and pointing are more ergonomic.

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to DanFrakes

@DanFrakes Yeah, since I can’t really do work on it, I have no need for a keyboard.

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to DanFrakes

I’m liking Downcast so far, but since using a third-party podcast player the lock screen and Control Center lose track of what’s playing.

via Tweetbot for Mac

@DanFrakes I guess the stumbling block for me is that neither my coding nor tech support is really possible on an iPad.

via Tweetbot for iOS in reply to DanFrakes

@kevinhoctor Because of RAM? My stats indicate that less than 7% of customers on 10.6 can’t run 64-bit.

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to kevinhoctor

@kevinhoctor Yes, but 10.7 only requires a Core 2 Duo and 2 GB of RAM. Seems like that wouldn’t exclude very many.

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to kevinhoctor

@kevinwalzer The current OS version always has the majority of my customers, plus OS bugs to work around and new APIs to take advantage of.

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to kevinwalzer

@kevinhoctor Will be interesting to see what happens to the 10.6 numbers when 10.9 ships. So far they are still almost as high as 10.7.

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to kevinhoctor

I wonder why the Downcast Mac app wants to access the “iCab” information in my keychain.

via Tweetbot for Mac

@kevinhoctor No. Within the past few months, all my apps now require 10.5 or 10.6. But lots of people run old versions on old OS versions.

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to kevinhoctor

@uliwitness SpamSieve has both a higher percentage of users on 10.4 and 10.9 than in between, compared with my other products.

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to uliwitness

I now have more customers on Mavericks than Tiger.

via Tweetbot for Mac

@NathanGaber Looks like it’s worth a try; thanks. I guess it uses iCloud for sync? It would be nice to have a Fever for podcasts…

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to NathanGaber

I wonder if anyone has used Hazel to organize Git tags.

@jablair @leebennett Amazon only offers gift cards for trade-ins, but the price was $30 higher for my 4S, and the process is smooth.

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to jablair

@mhenders I would use that multiple times per day.

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to mhenders

@leebennett Amazon seemed to offer much better prices for me than Gazelle.

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to leebennett

Keep iPhone 4S, and if it breaks owe $199 for repairs. Or trade it in for >$199, get a 5c/5s for free, and if anything breaks: Apple Care.

@FogBugz Great. Not on the new version yet but wanted to forestall the update if there wasn’t a pref to opt out. Didn’t see it in blog post.

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to FogBugz

@FogBugz I like performance updates, but is there a way to opt out of the new version until there’s feature parity?

via Tweetbot for Mac

@tonyarnold I had to Google it, too, but apparently The Register didn’t just make it up. I’m guessing it’s more UK slang.

via Tweetbot for iOS in reply to tonyarnold

@Filosync I got the e-mail but didn’t see a corresponding Web page or blog post to link to.

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to Filosync

@cparnot Do you think you’ll use it? I like it, but it doesn’t solve a problem that I currently have.

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to cparnot

Somehow a document that I created in 2013 is too old to be edited in the Pages Web app. It says to save it in Pages ’09.

winyang Two young women stranded on Longs Peak, need assistance: helpconnieandsuz.tumblr.com any news agencies that can help?

@PBones I’ve been using AudioServicesPlayAlertSound; does that use the proper output device? Also, does your code use the alert volume?

spamsieve SpamSieve 2.9.8 adds support for Mac OS X 10.8.5 and improves filtering accuracy: c-command.com/blog/2013/09/1…

Just had two kernel panics in HFS+ code. I don’t think Time Machine likes it when I replace a folder with a symlink.

via Tweetbot for Mac

@VTPG Seems like they could have done that for 32-bit iOS.

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to VTPG

I don’t think I will ever remember that PayPal’s default search doesn’t look in the Transaction ID field.

via Tweetbot for Mac

@mrmachinetool That was my thought as well. You have to pick a level that you start trusting: OS, compiler, processor, etc.

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to mrmachinetool

@simX As I recall, the screensaver keeps running (animating).

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to simX

@mcelhearn But it looks like you have to click all the checkboxes every time you print. It wouldn’t save that in the Preset or Last Used.

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to mcelhearn

@mcelhearn Aha. I knew about Attributes, but Note wasn’t showing. It does show if you pick the List style.

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to mcelhearn

@mcelhearn None of the print styles include the contact’s notes, for example.

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to mcelhearn

@mhenders Yeah. You can’t even select all the text at once. So I dragged the card into EagleFiler and printed it from there.

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to mhenders

It appears that the only way to print all the information from a card in Contacts is to take a screenshot (hope window can be large enough).

via Tweetbot for Mac

@siegel @stevenf Yep. Or offering the new app as an update, or redirecting links when the old app is removed, etc., etc.

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to siegel

@siegel @stevenf Makes sense. But if having you make a separate app is the plan, there’s so much the store could do to make that smoother.

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to siegel

@mhenders Thanks. I’ll check it out. Love the subject matter but haven’t really enjoyed other books in that genre (e.g. Krakauer).

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to mhenders

So I had also used myOpenID for postbox.zendesk.com and waffle.wootest.net, neither of which seem to use OpenID anymore.

via Tweetbot for Mac

@michaelolson10 Thanks. I looked for such a page but didn’t see a link to it. Now myopenid.com seems to be down; I’ll check later.

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to michaelolson10

Fortunately, StackExchange lets you add multiple login methods to the same account.

via Tweetbot for Mac

Jut got an e-mail saying myOpenID is shutting down. Wonder how to find out which sites I used it for. Probably just StackExchange.

via Tweetbot for Mac

@cparnot Good point, although if you have repeated strings the interning is really nice.

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to cparnot

@fetchguy Yeah, the digital experience for subscribers isn’t very good. I’m actually scanning the articles I want to save. :-(

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to fetchguy

Is there a 1x+2x screenshot app like RetinaCapture, but that works with multiple displays? mjtsai.com/blog/2012/09/1…

via Tweetbot for Mac

@optshiftk The titlebar menu works in other apps, but seemingly not in QuickTime Player.

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to optshiftk

@optshiftk With a different movie, I get a “Screen Recording.mov” alias, but my window was “Untitled”. Why doesn’t it work like TextEdit?

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to optshiftk

@optshiftk I tried dragging a few times and it snapped back.

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to optshiftk

Feels so strange to me that after making a new recording in QuickTime Player, to find the file I have to close the window (&hope it asks).

via Tweetbot for Mac

@redpola I’ll check it out. Thanks. Currently, I’m using vigil-app.com.

via Tweetbot for Mac in reply to redpola

@redpola Thanks for the heads-up. Should be back up now.
