Nice to see the persistent undo in PCalc touch 1.8.
@sethdill Wow, nice work!
CrashPlan is stuck "Waiting for connection" for several hours now.
@gruber UTIs aren't even really a replacement for type codes, because they can only be inferred, not set.
The QuickBooks R8 update showed up, and it seems to work.
The magic command-line to reconnect to a CrashPlan backup after restoring your system: http://bit.ly/12aecB
I received an e-mail from Intuit saying that QuickBooks has been updated, but the built-in software update feature says I have the latest.
@leebennett Did you copy it via a block restore?
@siegel Must be the blocks.
@ccgus Acorn 2 sounds great!
Both the Time Machine and SuperDuper backups had incorrect versions of some files. Smart Update was very confused. Reinstalling...
Turns out the drive freezes were probably not due to sleep/firmware but rather to thousands of bad blocks.
@sethdill Thanks for all your hard work!
@ccgus Yep, I'm seeing those with open/save panels as I recall. The most common crash is reported as an internal GCD bug, though.
@bsneed I have the Late 2008 Unibody so I was never able to upgrade the firmware from stock. Thanks, though.
@bsneed It comes out of the freeze in about a minute. Now they're so often I can't even use the Mac, though, so perhaps the drive is bad.
Not sure what's going on, but I've already had 5 hard drive sleep freezes this morning. Usually less than 1 per day. Want firmware update.
@jxpx777 Billable seems to be working fine for me on Snow Leopard. See also: http://bit.ly/5NS2R
@mmunz Until it makes you re-register, which happens for me from time to time. So far, I can still run it, but it crashes constantly.
My current plan is to replace QuickBooks with MoneyWell http://nothirst.com/mone... and Billable http://clickablebliss.co...
The main product page doesn't mention that it's not even possible to register QuickBooks with Snow Leopard: http://bit.ly/xDuCm
Intuit actually claims that most users will not be affected by QuickBooks' incompatibilities with Snow Leopard: http://bit.ly/tlBgW
@kevinhoctor Wow, I was planning to write those up as feature requests! I like the All Accounts, too. Looking forward to 1.5.
@RickMacMerc Well, I'm glad to hear that it's temporary!
@danielpunkass Nice!
@wilshipley It makes sense, practically speaking. But it's kind of a levels mismatch. Confusing to have -autorelease be the exception.
@jimcorreia That was my first thought, but maybe there would be an efficient way for the runtime to check if the receiver is CF...
@wilshipley That wouldn't really make sense because -autorelease is a delayed -release and -release is a no-op under GC.
Does anyone know what happened to macmerc.com?
@siracusa I was hoping that wasn't your point. Because way too white and shiny.
Nice to see that iTunes no longer asks you to repeat the purchase after agreeing to new terms.
Wow, I didn't expect 10.6.1 that soon. Good thing I shipped @spamsieve yesterday, so its Mail plug-in is already up-to-date.
Trying the 1.0.2 Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter.
@zzot I don't have the SDK installed.
@tobyx Deleting the cookies and relaunching iTunes seemed to do it. Thanks!
Deleted the Genius DB. Now I'm getting "There was an error in the iTunes Store."
Still no Genius mixes showing up...
Why do I have to quit Xcode before installing iTunes?
@gparker Excellent!
@bwebster Upsell to 3GS, I guess.
@wooliegeek Yeah, I don't understand that. They already have a tri-state control for Repeat. Why not for Shuffle?
@fetjuel So true.
@ianbeck Good to know, thanks. I'm still pretty happy with Acorn's compression, and I like its UI better, anyway.
Configured the GCC for LPD so that it can be used with Snow Leopard.
I don't understand these vacation messages that aren't sent until 5 days after the fact.
@TransactionPro Do you have a Mac version?
@SteuartSmith All the transactions.
Wallet looks rather awesome.
I'm not sure what happened, but Time Machine started working again today.
@kalkwarf Turned out to be an irrelevant question because they haven't made any software changes that they expect would affect the problem.
Called Apple to ask about the status of the Mini DisplayPort adapter fix. First thing the agent asked was whether I'd updated to 10.5.8.
@rtmfd I'm using a local drive, so no sparseimage. Disk Utility says it's fine. No crashes or power failures since starting with this drive.
@0xced "The backup was not performed because an error occurred while copying files to the backup disk."
Seriously, I don't think I've yet gone three months without Time Machine finding that its own backup is unusable.
Time Machine keeps giving me errors, but Disk Utility says the drive is fine. Time to erase the backup and start over—again?
@kevinhoctor QuickBooks can export reports to Excel, but not the whole database, as far as I know.
@kevinhoctor I don't think it can. Bad Intuit.
@kevinhoctor Thanks. Is there a good way to import for QuickBooks? It doesn't even seem to have an export feature except .qbb.
@kevinhoctor I'm considering using a separate invoicing app, since I don't need to do that very often. Constant bugs and glitches with QB.
@kevinhoctor Mostly I just want to reconcile accounts and keep track of buckets for tax purposes. I don't need cashflow or budgeting.
@kevinhoctor Any tips? I don't need heavy business features. Maybe there's a creative way I could use it? Basic invoice/payment tracking.
Somebody keeps adding incorrect information to http://snowleopard.wikid.... Really annoying.
@pilky I was playing with @kevinhoctor's MoneyWell demo last night, actually. Very nice, but it's a different paradigm and not for business.
@wilshipley Could you please write a delicious accounting app? Thanks.
@nst021 Yep. Definitely one of the better implementations of that feature.
@jsnell Yes, because now I have to figure out whether my GCC printer can do lpr.
@siegel Congrats!
