@leebennett Sounds good.
Crash report comment: "I ran out of disk space."
All of a sudden, La La is finding trades for me.
@danielpunkass Thanks for the follow-up.
I don't think I know anyone who uses QuickBooks and likes it; it's ripe for the indie treatment.
The lady said this could only happen if there's a "server problem" or if I had uninstalled it.
Though I've changed nothing, QuickBooks unregistered itself. The Web-based activation didn't work so I had to call Intuit.
@sethdill Most of its features probably fall outside what can be done with a language module, though.
@sethdill The current version has been working great for me. If you're ever looking for ideas, check out AUCTeX for Emacs.
@sethdill Yes, although these days I mostly write Python code to generate the TeX for me.
TeX caught an invalid URL for me.
@leebennett No, you're right; that's the lone exception.
@leebennett Just one from Turner, AFAIK, and I'm in the process of adding another VN at Paul's request.
October has turned out to be a Very Nice month.
@danielpunkass Is your SpamSieve rule at the top of the list?
@danielpunkass Could you e-mail me some log info about your sister? http://tinyurl.com/j6zeq
@leebennett I'm waiting to hear back from Pair about how to do it for ATPM mail. I suspect it's possible, but the obvious way didn't work.
@retrophisch I use it all the time with LaunchBar, TextEdit, and OmniOutliner.
@retrophisch Whereas on a regular keyboard I can just press the thumb straight into the space between Option and Command.
@retrophisch I found the easiest way was little, Thumb x 2 (sideways), index.
@retrophisch That just doesn't work for me. Maybe that explains why I was terrible at guitar.
@leebennett It should be fixable on the Mac. Your personal server has an SSL certificate?
DreamHost support doesn't know how to avoid certificate warnings when using IMAPS on an iPhone.
@retrophisch How do you type Command-Option-Shift-V on the new keyboard?
Color profile spontaneously changed; going to Displays pref pane.
After the firmware update, the MBP got stuck with a blank screen, but after power-cycling it seems to work fine.
@retrophisch Yum. :-)
VersionTracker has undocumented change notes: http://www.versiontracke...
Does louder volume in 1.1.1 mean that the increments will be even larger than before?
I seem to be getting more tech support questions from people who are relatively new to the Mac.
@leebennett I know it sounds crazy, but it works. The onion (or garlic) likes the metal more than your skin.
@leebennett No, not something abrasive. Just rub a stainless steel spoon or chef's knife (or even a sink) under cold running water.
@leebennett Rub with stainless steel and cold water.
@leebennett It's working over here...
@leebennett That's my guess. Do you know how to test it?
I guess the iMac isn't OK after all; the clock seems to always be wrong now.
GrowlHelperApp is using 160 MB of RAM. Was going to file a bug, but the site seems to be down.
@leebennett Sounds likes bug in ME since the default shortcut for BR is Command-Enter.
@leebennett Some of the code loads into every app. I see it in lots of crash reports.
@leebennett Saft is basically a haxie, you know.
@leebennett Doesn't MarsEdit 2 have its own keyboard shortcut editor for the markup commands?
@leebennett What do you use those for?
@leebennett I used to use WindowShade, but I stopped with OS X and actually don't miss it.
@leebennett You can open pref panes with LaunchBar and edit most keyboard shortcuts with System Preferences.
@leebennett Just Say No
@retrophisch Yeah, after I saw that keyboard I was wondering if I should change the default capture key. F1 is so nice, though...
I guess this explains why I blew through 4 phone surge protectors this summer.
The phone was down because there were phone wires nearby in the ground.
Phone/DSL and power are restored. The transformer was broken and arcing into the ground.
@retrophisch Want to review the keyboard? :-)
@leebennett I'm not sure. There'a been lots of rain but no lightning. The neighbours are down, too.
Phone and power are down.
@retrophisch Right. Several have required warranty service during year 1. After year 3, AppleCare wouldn't have helped, anyway.
@leebennett I haven't gotten hooked on Twitter yet because the service seems to be so unreliable.
@leebennett LOL
@leebennett Still haven't quite figured out this Twitterrific thing.
@mjtsai So I guess my streak of never having a Mac die during years 2 or 3 continues.
@leebennett I put my RAM back in, plugged in back into the original UPS, and plugged in the drives, and now it seems to be back to normal.
Several hours later, the iMac spontaneously started up, while I was on the other side of the room.
@leebennett GarageSale is pretty nice. I liked it better than iSale.
@retrophisch Nope. This morning it was sleeping and wouldn't wake up or power off. I unplugged it, and now it won't turn on.
The iMac appears to be dead.
TidBITS redesign looks nice, but feels ad-heavy. Seems more like a group blog than a weekly newsletter.
@retrophisch Belated congrats on getting out of the cast!
Catching up.
Wondering if I should try MarsEdit when I get back to blogging. Last time I looked, none of the clients stuck, but that was years ago.
@leebennett Me neither. It kind of made the interface look like Jaguar.
Keyboard is a bit stiffer than the MacBook one, though.
iMac at Best Buy set to 256 colors and had misconfigured AirPort.
