Towards an Ideal OpenType User Interface

John Gruber:

What I find absurd is that you can use many of these features in TextEdit (Apple’s free text editor), but not in Pages (Apple’s purportedly professional word processor). They worked up through Pages ’09, but were sacrificed in the name of iOS and web app compatibility.

I think they were more sacrificing in terms of getting something out. While there are still missing features that annoy the heck out of me (no get selection for AppleScript - really?) they have been quickly adding features back. In particular thec last update made me quite happy. Hopefully they'll match Pages and Numbers 09 functionality soon.
